*The Residential Construction Performance Guidelines for Professional Builders and Remodelers includes comprehensive industry developed minimum bench marks for workmanship which we use as a basis for reporting  the results of the building underway. *Codes are a foreign language to many and often need skilled interpretations and knowledge of how that Code Section  applies and was developed and in response to what issue. I have over 19 years of experience related to International Family of Building Codes. I have been appointed to 5 ICC Existing Buildings Code Committees since 2003 to develop and rewrite the consensus Uniform Codes which nearly all states adopt with some local amendments.  I was appointed to and served for 19 years (retired 2017) on the CT State Codes & Standards Committee which reviews the ICC Family of Codes for adoption and creates state amendments. Understanding how Codes are created and reviewed and adopted or modified is valuable knowledge. Especially when serve on Appeal Panels regarding decisions made by Building and Plumbing Inspectors that contractors or home owner's disagree with and want to appeal. Codes consulting ability flows from this experience.
